PHILADELPHIA

The Birthplace of America. The city where the Declaration of Independence was signed & where the Liberty Bell & Independence Hall still stands! Philadelphia is an amazing city that invested so much in establishing our amazing nation!

Unfortunately, Philadelphia is also known as the city that is:

• #1 in deep poverty (among big cities)
#1 in opioids addiction with an estimated 100 deaths because of overdoses every month

According to Hungry Free America there is a Hunger Crisis where:

• Over 300,000 residents of Philadelphia (Nearly 20%) live in food insecure homes
• $158,000,000 in funds are needed per year, for Philadelphia’s residents to overcome food insecurity

PHILADELPHIA DREAM CENTER’S HISTORY

2016: THE MOVE

The Dream Center of Philadelphia was planted by David & Shirrie Dominguez. They moved from Ormond Beach, Florida to the inner-city of Philadelphia in July of 2016. With a heart to reach the marginalized & revive God-given dreams (they believe that everyone has a God-given dream, a God-given dream is anything that expands the Kingdom of God). By connecting people to Christ, He not only brings them to salvation & restoration, but awakens their God-given dream.

2017: SMALL BEGINNINGS

Right out of their home office they partnered with The Dream Center Network out of L.A. California, to bring a Dream Center to the birthplace of America. Out of their home, they cooked meals for homeless & children in need, while also praying with a small team to be led by God for their next steps.

2018: FIRST FACILITY

After one year of meeting & working out of the founders home, Philadelphia Dream Center signed a lease on their first facility. Out of this facility they hosted over 500 short term volunteers that serve for either one day or up to one week. These teams helped with the mission in reaching lives throughout the neediest places of Philadelphia.

2020: NEWER & BIGGER FACILITY

After serving in our first facility for 15 months, we quickly outgrew the space. We leased another facility that was nearly double the size. This facility equipped us to help more people in need. It had a full commercial kitchen, bedrooms & showers for short & long-term missionaries. In addition, a parking lot for our new fleet of outreach vehicles.

COVID-19

When moving in, it was a happy moment. However, in the middle of the move, news broke about COVID-19. At this time public schools closed, leaving children without in person classes, but also without the much needed two “school meals” a day.

What did we do?

We developed a drive-through meal giveaway where we distribute over 5,000 meals a month. (The goal is to increase the children’s feeding program to over 20,000 meals a month)

5 Point Strategy

1. TARGET THE NEEDIEST PLACES

We pinpoint areas that are most challenged with economic and social needs in Philadelphia.

2. WE IDENTIFY THE NEEDS

We focus our efforts and resources on marginalized communities.

3. WE PARTNER WITH COMMUNITY

We partner with communities, work together & find solutions that will alleviate struggles.

4. WE DEVELOP PROGRAMS AND OUTREACHES

Together with our partners we develop programs, addressing the community’s immediate needs. We also combat hunger, addiction, and human trafficking, all while discipling them in Christ.

5. YOU BECOME PART OF THE SOLUTION
